(AP) - Officials say that the burned remains found in a Southern California mountain cabin have been positively identified as fugitive former police officer Christopher Dorner.

A San Bernardino County sheriff-coroner spokeswoman said Thursday the identification was made through Dorner's dental records. She did not give the cause of death.

The search for Dorner began last week after authorities said he launched a deadly revenge campaign against the Los Angeles Police Department for his firing, warning that he would bring "warfare" to LAPD officers and their families.

It ended Tuesday, with a firefight with police in Big Bear that ended when the cabin Dorner had holed up in ignited in flames. Police say Dorner is responsible for four deaths during his rampage, including the killings of two law enforcement officers.
