Actually this story is what is ridiculous. First "right away" should be "right of way", which should give everyone a clue how well inform the reporter is about the subject. Second, the quote that the plant will release "a huge amount of carbon dioxide into the environment and we know that's the biggest ozone creating problem there is" shows total ignorance of both the plant and the science of pollution. The plant is designed to capture 90% of its CO2 emissions so it will release much less CO2 than a natural gas fired power plant that most people consider to be "clean". Also, CO2 has nothing to do with the formation of ozone. Ozone is formed by the combination of nitrogen oxides (NOx)and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and it appears that this plant will be designed to minimize both of those compounds. It would be nice if KGET would get their facts straight before broadcasting this nonsense.

This is the most ridiculous idea any polluted city ever considered. Why do we want to add more pollution to our air when we are choking on the air we have? You do not need to think about this too deeply when they tell you they are going to bring thousands of pounds of coal a day to burn. I do not care who promises what, the answer from me is NO, NO, NO! Yeah, adding only 10% of cabon dioxide to the air. Not 1% more, No, No, No.
