Paramount Producers are filming the next Star Trek movie just outside Bakersfield.

For millions of Star Trek fans an anxious wait is almost over and characters from the famed television series and theatrical space drama beaming into Kern County for a few scenes.

The movie isn't finished but the trailer is already is on the internet.

Details of the movie are secret, but here is what we do know.

Director J.J. Abrams who directed Mission Impossible Three is in Kern County directing "Star Trek: The Prequel."

The Star Trek movie will feature Winona Ryder and Chris Pine as a young James T. Kirk.

Producers say this Star Trek will feature a young, new crew.

Jeffery Chernov, a Paramount producer, said that Paramount found it logical to pick Kern County as a shoot location because it is close to hollywood and looks like Kirk's home state of Iowa.

Chernov said, "We wanted something that looked like Iowa, and we also wanted to stay close to Los Angeles. So, we came out here and scouted and realized that we can kind of make Iowa out of Bakersfield."

Rick Davis from the Kern County Board of Trustees said, "We often market ourselves as Hollywood's back lot to the north. We've also been very proud of the fact that if you were going to shoot a movie in Maine and end up in Los Angeles, every scene you would need, we have here in Kern County."

Davis said the Star Trek movie will bring in $2 million in revenue for Kern County.

He said Paramount casted for extras here in Kern County, and producers confirmed, actors from Kern County will be making appearances in the newest Star Trek movie.

Also, it's 'trailer,' not 'trailor.' Jeez...do you people have absolutely no training in anything, like, say, writing, spelling, journalism?

You misspelled the producer's name, too. It's Chernov, not Chernoz. More great fact-checking and accuracy from KGET.

Looks like Iowa? depends on the angle. Hopefully they were pointing the cameras to the North, or smudging the camera a bit if it's a clear day, because the last I checked there ARE NO MOUNTAINS IN IOWA! It's kind of a dead giveaway taht it's not Iowa when you have the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the background!!! LOL
