Two days after McFarland police shot an unarmed man in Delano, they still aren't saying much about the investigation.

We know one CHP officer attempted to taze Randy Ferreira as he fled from police. According to the CHP, that officer is back on full duty.

But, McFarland's police chief won't tell us why the man was shot, how many officers were involved, or where their investigation stands.

McFarland police tell us it started as a pursuit that took them to Delano on Monday after investigating a chop shop on Elmo Highway in McFarland.

From there, the only official word from McFarland police is that they shot the suspect, Randy Ferreira.

Investigators at the scene Monday say Ferreira acted like he was taking a gun out of a vehicle in a threatening manner.

But, after police shot him Ferreira was found to be unarmed.

At least two witnesses told 17 News they saw Ferreira put his hands in the air before he was shot.

Off camera on Wednesday, McFarland Police Chief Greg Herrington told us he is not concerned with what witnesses might have seen because he is confident in the department's investigation.

Investigators say Ferreira was driving a stolen pickup truck. When he got out, he ran down an alley where police shot at him, but missed.

Police say Ferreira then ran between two cars and that's when the CHP officer attempted to taze him, but missed.

Police say Ferreira then ran around a building where police finally caught up with him and shot him.

Ferreira is out of the hospital and was booked into jail.

He faces nine charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, evading a peace officer, and receiving stolen property.

His bail is set at $130,000.

He ran, good reason to shoot to me! When an officer tells you to stop, stop if you feel you are going to be a bad a$$ and out run him you might get shot!
