Authorities have located another major marijuana growing operation in the mountains of Kern County.

Five marijuana fields were found on federal land in a remote area south of Havilah. That's in the mountains south of Lake Isabella.

Due to the rough terrain and remoteness of the area, the officers were dropped into the area by helicopter and the plants were carried out by helicopter to a command post.

No suspects were located during the operation.

Officers located three camp sites within the area containing fertilizers and other materials used to maintain the marijuana.

The camps were dismantled.

Just over 15,000 mature marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $61-million were eradicated from the area.

All those helicopters must cost a lot to operate! Every year it's the same thing. Yet it's easier for high school kids to buy pot than vodka. The only we will be to stop marijuana production from ruining our public lands is to move production to licensed farms. Marijuana is by far California's biggest crop. It has to grow somewhere.
