A family in southeast Bakersfield is mourning the loss of a man, shot and killed overnight.

Police say 29-year-old Earnest Ramon Dixon was shot just before 10 last night in front of a home on Hayes Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say they don't have any suspect information or many leads except that witnesses reported hearing at least 5 gunshots.

"There's reports of vehicles seen leaving area but it's unknown at this point, we can't say that they are or are not linked to this investigation," said Sgt. Jason Matson with the Bakersfield Police Department.

Police have no motive for the shooting but they do say it was not Dixon's home. Anyone with information on this is asked to call police at 661-327-7111.

The police have no motive for the shooting? In this part of town they don't need any motive, it's what they do just for fun in this area of town!
