An arrest has been made in a murder investigation in southwest Bakersfield but it's not the gunman that's behind bars.
According to police, the man who was shot and killed was 23-year-old Tremelle Spain. Police have arrested 24-year-old Semaj Douglas. They say he and Spain both had firearms and entered the apartment on Appleblossom Drive intending to rob the place.
Police say the person in the apartment grabbed a gun and shot at both men but only hit Spain. Douglas took off and was later arrested for conspiracy, murder, attempted robbery, participation in a criminal street gang, prior felon in possession of a firearm, and a parole violation.
The person in the apartment was not arrested.
Both Douglas and Spain have a criminal record. Douglas has two previous charges for first degree burglary along with gang charges and Spain had numerous drug and gang charges.
The investigation is still ongoing.
