Police are investigating a shooting in a southeast Bakersfield neighborhood near Panama Lane and South H Street. One of the people who lives in that neighborhood called the police and told them a man walked up to their door saying he was shot.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, police responded to the shooting in the 1800 block of William F. Halsey Avenue where they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Police say they believe the man was shot three times elsewhere on the block and made his way to a residence to ask for help.  It does not appear that there is any connection between the victim and the residence where he was found.

"Officers canvassed the neighborhood but were unable to locate any witnesses to the shooting. There is limited information at this time in regards to any suspect leads," said Sgt. Orbin Love with the Bakersfield Police Department.

The man was taken to Kern Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

If you have any information regarding this shooting, you are urged to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at 661-327-7111.
