Police arrested Blayne Allen Clifford and booked him in the Kern County Jail for murder for the beating of 40-year-old Patrick Matsuda who was killed outside his Southwest home Sunday.

Police say at least one suspect is still on the loose, but new information explains exactly how police say the fight transpired. Matsuda's wife Annette wants everyone involved in the beating to be punished.

"I hope they catch every single one of them and they'll have to live with this the rest of their lives," Annette Matsuda said.

She saw her husband, a former professional bodybuilder, beaten to death by a group of people with baseball bats, across the street from her Bakersfield home on Whitegate Avenue. Annette Matsuda called 9-1-1, but by the time she reached her husband, it was too late.

"I tried to flip him over and stop his bleeding and tried to give him C.P.R. and he died on the way to the hospital," the widow explained through tears. "I just hope he knows i tried to save him."

Annette Matsuda says her husband was growing tired of the constant partying across the street, so he tried to put a stop to it around 2:30 sunday morning. Police say Patrick Matsuda was beaten and stabbed after reportedly trying to get his neighbors to turn down loud music. Officials say Matsuda made the first move.

"Apparently because of the loud music, Matsuda went over there and confronted two people in the front yard," Bakersfield Police Sergeant Mary DeGeare said. "That's when Patrick Matsuda apparently assaulted a man and was involved with an altercation with him and when the male got away the female became involved and Matsuda assaulted the female."

Sgt. DeGeare says Matsuda punched the man and woman in the face. Investigators report Matsuda then got a baseball bat and the other men grabbed two bats. Matsuda's friend Kevin Purvis finds it all hard to believe.

"Pat was not a confrontational person," Purvis said. "They've had a lot of problems with that house."

Matsuda's friend and co-worker James Zaragoza told 17 News his own suspicions about the loud renters who reportedly killed the father of three.

"To have run-ins, to have people coming and going, you know they're doing drugs in there," Zargoza said. "Absolutely. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out."

Zaragoza says his Matsuda often complained about his neighbors at the boarded up house across the street. Police say there were four calls on record since march of last year complaining of loud noise, juveniles drinking, narcotics, and disturbance at the home.

Nineteen-year-old Blayne Allen Clifford was arrested for murder on Sunday evening. Annette Matsuda says it is ironic Clifford reportedly killed her husband, because she helped care for Clifford's step-sister when no one else would.

"That's what's so crazy, I've taken her in and fed her when I couldn't feed her," Annette Matsuda said. "And her family does this."

Police are still looking for a suspect, a white or hispanic male, in his early 20s, around 5'10" with short dark hair, and possibly with a goatee.

The man has tattoos on his arms and on the back of his neck. If you have any information, call Bakersfield Police at (661) 327-7111 or call the secret witness hotline at 322-4040. Police are still investigating other party-goers involved in the murders.

Since when does someone have the right to take one man down with bats and knives? No i was not their that morning in question, further more i do not even live in bakersfield. What I do know is posting comments on blame is kind of ironic due to the nature of this hanus act. A mans life was taken over such a petty dispute that could have been solved in a million diffrent ways, and i bet today for some of you wished this never happened. Ya i know people reading this are probably saying this ----- has no idea what the hell she is talking about but i do... My heart goes out to the matsuda family may patrick rest in peace. I am a relative of one of the arrested is this case and i will pray for mercy in his case, we all take a great loss here for somthing that could have been avoided. I know that each side will have their views and plenty of bashing of each ones character it needs to stop that is just trying to place blame on the other party for a horrible crime. I KNOW BACK IN THE DAY IT WAS TWO MEN FIGHTING IN THE STREET ONE ON ONE NO BATS NO GUNS NO KNIVES NO BIG HARM WHAT IN THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY CAN TAKE A LIFE. In this situation we all lose one way or another. The big picture the people that were there that morning in question know what happened, we dont, but the victim had to fall at some point WAS THAT NOT ENOUGH???? My heart goes out to all parties involved justice needs to be served and for my cousin in kern county jail I love you and may god keep you safe and strong and may you find another way of life this will lead you no where. Everyone dreging up the past of another remember patrick matsuda was still only one man.. wasnt there another way...We all lose!!!!

Things are not always as they seem. Matsuda was not this outstanding citizen. He has been in and out of jail for years, and was on parole when he died. Has anyone else thought it was wrong he punched a lady in the face? That hasn't been the first time he's hit a woman, ask around many has seen him start fights and even hit a girls. They need to check Matsuda for drugs, bet they find stuff in his system. Now his wife set up an account asking for money, didn't we (tax payers) support him and his family when he was locked up? I think its horrible that he was killed and people should pay for what they did. But what did he expect when he punches people then grab a baseball bat against a group of people? I feel extremely bad for those poor children. They are left with out a dad and with a mom who herself has a history of drugs. Just know there is always more than meets the eye, or what is covered by the news. But there does need to be some consequences for actions that night.

Pat is not here to defend himself. No one knows who threw the first punch and even if he did, it was not with a bat. He was a man, not a punk. He certainly didn't deserve to get beaten to death. To say he assaulted a woman...I don't believe it. That's the other side trying to put the blame on Pat. They are going to say anything to make him look bad because they don't want to face the consequences of what they did. They are cowards. As for his past arrest, I understand that it has to be said, that's the way it is, but it had nothing to do with this incident. Stop trying to make the victim the bad guy. He wasn't. A son and daughters have lost their father. A mother and father have lost their son. A wife has lost her husband. A friend to many is gone forever. This is such a tragedy. A senseless tragedy.

"why didn't the guy just call the police and report another party? Why try to handle it himself? " Probably because the cops don't show up for noise violations & when you do call them out numerous times for the sdame people on the same day they won't let you press charges on the ones with the party. Been there done that. I've gone over & tried to ask people to turn down their stereos, some times it works other times it doesn't. I've found if you turn up your music very early in the morning the next day after a party so the bums can't sleep off their hangover you can usually get your point across, add to this whatever other loud noise you can come up with usually fixes it for the next time you ask to turn the music down.

For all of our high-tech Ipod iphone computer using "Civilization", the minute people get scared or angry and the adrenaline starts pumping, we turn into our ape ancestors and grab clubs to beat each other with. why didn't the guy just call the police and report another party? Why try to handle it himself?

I felt so sad for the grieving widow until she asked Pat's son to leave her home.

Texas, same idea as the CSUB wrestlers beating & killing that guy last year, they killed him yet no charges were even filed so it could go to court. I'm wondering if the same thing is going to happen here? I sure hope it doesn't.

Whats wrong with People? You don't keep beating a Man who is down(this absolutely does constitute Murder). I'm betting the D.A. will offer a Plea deal of 1st or 2nd Degree Manslaughter. NO WAY! Stick with Murder 1! I still don't yet understand how they have only one in custody and one outstanding Suspect who still remains unidentified? From what I've watched there were reportedly around 15 People involved? Did I miss something? Why aren't these others(onlookers from party included) behind bars and charged also with Murder? How is it these People know this outstanding Suspect well enough to party with Him but can't recall His name now? I say charge everyone there in His place then. I bet His name, phone number, address and all would come to light all of a sudden. Personally I'm sick of this Gang and Thug mentality which seems to be a affliction on todays youth. To bad these People didn't commit this Crime in Texas! I say this because they too have the Death Penalty, but they actually use it unlike California. Lock them all up at least till this other wanna be Gangster Thug on the run is Captured!

Another perp who has been released with his charges "dismissed for the furtherment of justice". Looks like we are starting the same trend as last year. News 17, you going to look into this dismissal of charges? Last year most if not all of the firearm related incidents had the perp released with the same thing only to commit a murder or attempt it later, how does this happen?
