A Bakersfield man is in jail after police said he kidnapped his girlfriend and repeatedly beat her for three days.

Friends of the 20-year-old woman say Kristopher Lawless bit her, hit her, and tried to Super glue her wounds, all while she was bound inside a house in south Bakersfield.

The friends who took her in after she escaped said the Stockdale High School grad was dragged from room to room and was beaten.

"He would drag her from one room to the other room. She had rug burns on her knees," said Elpidia Gobea, a friend of the victim.

"She said she was cleaning the shower because they had a party. He got a big vase full of marbles that he just has for decoration, threw it at her while she was in the shower, and hit her on the head," said Robert Gobea, the victim's friend.

Friends said that's because Lawless thought the woman stole something.

"He said that she stole $3,500 from him, stole all his drugs, stole his pills, stole a bunch of stuff from him," said Gobea.

Elpidia Gobea said the woman told her Lawless kept her captive for three days, even during her birthday on Halloween.

"He would tie her up, her hands and her feet, and he would put her inside of a tent and just leave her there," said Elpidia.

That was until Thursday at 6 a.m when the woman escaped, and a stranger picked her up and took her to Robert and Elpidia's home.

"Her eyes were swollen shut. Her lips were all fat. She had a stab mark where he grabbed her lip and shoved a knife through it. He cut her neck, shaved parts of her hair off, and then he tried to Super glue all her wounds together, and he tried to Super glue all her wounds shut," said Robert.

Hours after the 20-year-old escaped, police arrested Lawless.

The Gobeas want justice.

"If I had a chance to see him, even have a confrontation with him, he wouldn't be alive. I would have taken things into my own hands cause that's my daughter. I see her as my daughter," said Elpidia.

The woman's family tells us she is recovering at home. Lawless faces multiple charges including attempted murder and torture.

Neighbors say they saw the couple fighting all the time.

I can honestly say that this entire story reporters have repeated with so much detail is completely true. I have no reason to make up lies to make Kris seem like a monster. I also have no reason to steal from kris when i was buying, paying things for him out of the $2500.00 loan he had me apply for. Foe most you i say this please grow up and realize women dont make up stories to make things worse when involving DV cases...

I know this couple well, they were on and off for the last 3 years, on when he was clean and off when he was doing drugs. She never stole from him but because he was high he accused her more then once.. her only problem was being in love with him and believing him when he said he would change.. she's called me a few times before crying about how he hit her so I would pick her up. But because she's young and he was a smooth talker to her she fell for it. She is the victim in this case! She doesn't do drugs or steal. So for those of you saying she was probably doing them with him, well now you know!

Quit getting off on all the bad crap going on in this world! Its like people feed off of it!! And that is just as dimented and evil!!! Comment on the freaking cat story or something you people are sad! It is a horrible thing that happend just leave it at that it makes me sick to always read all these news stories on here and read peoples comments... EVERY person in this world is someones child or brother or sister and some indiviuals in this world take crimes to the extreme and totally screw up but dont add to the evil and the hatered by saying evil things right back...why dont you all since you obviously have nothing better to do PRAY!! PRAY for the lost souls in this world pray for peace and healing for these two people... dont add to it with your unsupported comments...

Am I confused? Did she did aqctually steal from this person? My question is "why would she become invlved with this person?" Before becoming involved with a person, go to the Kern County public records site and check the persons record. It would have helped in this case (if she wanted it to). Luckily she is alive and much wiser. Hope she moves on with her life in a positive diection

the sarcasm here is atrocious. like he's going to report her stealing his stuff? come on. he was no witness to anything other than the crimes he committed against her. he's a twisted individual, on drugs or not. look up his arrest history, it's public record, and it speaks for itself. like most DV victims, they're brain washed and threatened not to leave, and have a misconception that they will change. i urge other girls that dated him and suffered abuse to contact the PD. he needs to go away for a long time and be punished for his crimes. if he gets out, it may be someone else whose life is taken. if not his.

She won't be going back because he is never getting out. unfortunately this is the SECOND time she has went back and we all thought she would learn from the first time. I don't know her, but I grew up with Kris and I can tell you it's the drugs. I never would have thought he would do something like this, but some can't kick the habit and end up losing their minds. Sad indeed.

A$$uming the victim DID the things he said she did, and intimating that she somehow 'deserved' the treatment she got because of it, is reprehensible! Don't you SEE? This jerk is MAKING UP these supposed 'offenses', in an attempt to JUSTIFY his Monstrous BEHAVIOR! As 'Paranah' pointed out, if she HAD indeed done what Kris accuses her of doing, the thing to do would have been to press criminal charges. This is a typical abuser! Thank God the poor girl got away, as she no doubt would have ended up dead! Now if she can just remain intelligent enough to NOT EVER GO BACK! Sadly, many do,and they wind up dead the NEXT time. Oh yes ... if she DOES go back, there WILL be a 'next time'.
