Deputies have arrested a Weldon man after they say they found a body in the trunk of a car over the weekend. Sheriff's deputies say the body was found Sunday morning in a car parked outside a home in the 10 thousand block of Hand Court in Weldon.
The cause of the man's death is unknown but deputies believe the man was killed at a different location then put in the trunk and driven to the house. Officials say it appears the body had been in the trunk for about a day.
Deputies served a search warrant at another home about a mile away and arrested 51-year-old Danny Mathis in connection to the man's death. Mathis has been booked in jail on a charge of murder.
The victim's name has not been released.
