Fresno Congressman Jim Costa will have competition for his seat come November.

Jim Lopez, a firey community activist and GOP conservative, announced today he's after Costa's job.

The 70-year-old Lopez is currently the State Chairman of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly.

He's a decorated war Veteran and well known for his outspoken views on social issues such as immigration.

His priorities, if elected are securing ample water supplies for California farmers, economic development in the valley, and immigration reform.

Republican candidate for the 20th Congressional district, Jim Lopez said, "I think this district is ready. a lot of people tell me that Jim Costa can't beat me. We're not taking any polls, I don't have a challenger in June so I can concentrate on my campaign. The real poll will be in November. Money? I'm not looking to buy this election, I'm going to earn it."

The 20th District includes all of Kings County and parts of Fresno and Kern Counties.
