Christmas is coming early for a local band. This Saturday night, Foster Campbell and Friends will be the opening act for the legendary B.B. King when he comes to town and plays at the Fox Theatre.
Foster Campbell is a family physician by day. By night, he's the lead singer of the band he started six years ago. His love for music began at a young age.
In 2004, Campbell performed acoustically with B.B. King. It wasn't until this year, his whole 15 member band was asked to be the opening act for the King of Blues.
"I went yes! I was very excited," said Foster Campbell. "It makes me feel like a kids for a few hours cause I can get up and I'm just grinning and I don't think about any problems and it's just kind of a joyful thing, a joyful couple hours. It does make you feel like a kid."
"Absolutely!," said Mac McClanahan, saxophonist. "It's in my top five wows of the year, lets put it that way."
"We all love the blues so much, to be involved with Elvin Bishop and B.B. King, it doesn't get any better," explained Chuck Seaton, guitarist.
The band says the audience has a great time listening to their performance. They hope Elvin Bishop, who is also playing Saturday night, and B.B. King also enjoy what they will bring to the Fox Theatre.
"You know, [I hope we] represent Bakersfield on this stage with these legends," said McClanahan.
