A holiday tradition in Lamont has helped put the homeless in the Christmas spirit, especially in today's tough times.   Owners of the El Pueblo Restaurant fed the homeless Thursday.  With help from the Kern County Fire Department, hundreds were bussed in all day from all over Kern County.

This is the 18th year Owner Luis Aguilar has fed the less fortunate in our community on Christmas Eve.  He says this year, he's seen more homeless families than ever.  "So many people out of work.  A lot of jobs have lost and today, so many families come up with their little ones to come have a hot meal and this is a wonderful day for me today."

Aguilar says when he moved to Bakersfield, he was homeless.  He vowed if he ever became successful, he would make sure homeless people had a nice dinner for Christmas.
