Kern County considering bringing back video court hearings

Every day Kern County transfers dozens of inmates back and forth between the jail and the courthouse. This costs taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. But what if there was a way to cut down on that cost by streaming video from the jail for some hearings?

Great idea. The article states that the inmates like the outing the trip provides and it give them a chance to see their friends and family. Who gives a flying hoot what they like. They committed a crime to get to the place they are in. Leave them there and save the law abiding tax paying citizens a few bucks. As far as the right to face a judge, we live in a virtual world as it is so why should the court system be any different.
