Jury rules for BPD, Hall Ambulance in doctor's negligence suit

A Bakersfield jury unanimously ruled Wednesday the police department and Hall Ambulance are not negligent for brain damage suffered by a local doctor who suffered a stroke five year ago. The doctor said police officers delayed his medical treatment because they thought he was drunk. The verdict came at mid-afternoon Wednesday, after less than a day of deliberations.

murph, you are embarrassing yourself again. The City of Bakersfield uses a Council-Manager form of government, NOT and mayor based form of government. Google it, and quit being an old fool.

Done trying to educate? Maybe someone should google just what the jobs duties of a city mayor is! I did and it looks like oldfart is right! As for the rate increases they have gone up around 500% to 600% since Hall been major, sure wages and the cost to operate has gone up but show me any business that has had a cost of doing business that done up that much in 10 years!

Old fart you finally showed your true colors. You hate hall ambulance because you feel wronged. You could care less about facts because your a hall hater. And once again ill use your numbers which keep changing every post . 365 increased to 1926 is an increase of approximately 430% over as you say seven years. And how did you pay for this? Cash. No you submitted it to your ins company and they determined if you in fact needed an ambulance and payed accordingly. Now you sound like someone who the ins company stuck with the majority of the bill and are bitter. Or did ins cover it with minimal out of pocket for you which would make the amount charged a moot point? Either way I guarentee that you were not out of pocket either Amount that you claim you were charged. also, I've never said hall doesn't increase it's rates. Of course they do. What do you think the ambulances run on solar power? No try 4 dollar a gallon gas. I also never said 10 or 11 years, I said a decade, that's ten years. I'm beginning to think you just make this stuff as you go along. And you never addressed all my other points so you either didn't comprehend or know your wrong and aren't able to admit it. Just say I hate hall ambulance and Harvey hall. One sentence and you never have to post again. And I'm not going to even try and explain the bpd thing again you've obviously lost touch with reality.

Blah and DR999 maybe you should look up what the mayor of a city does! Traditionally, mayors oversee a city's main departments, including the police department!

Oldfart, you think Mayor Hall controls the BPD? You need to do a little research on the system of government in the City of Bakersfield. Because he has no authority over the BPD. What's scary is people like you and murph probably vote. No wonder this entire nation is going to hell in a hand basket.

Continued To old fart. Wow what great guys that won't work for free and charge outrageous rates. Now as far as finding another company that has had an increase of 600%. I couldn't find any, including hall ambulance. Since you've already proven that your not a math genius let me explain something to you. To find an increase you don't just multiply the approximate difference of two numbers by the original number. Actually in using your numbers the increase is about 415% in about a decades time and through an economic collapse, and don't forget that pesky 40% collection rate. So next time you want to fire off an incoherent letter, try using some facts.

Congratulations and thanks to the jurors of this case, who unlike all of the people whining on this forum, listened to all of the testimony of the trial, weighed the facts, and concluded the case with a unanimous finding in favor of the defendants. The plaintiffs lawyers probably spent about $200,000 on this case, and lost every dime of it. If they want to roll the dice and try it again, that's their prerogative. Anyone who didn't sit as a juror on this case, listening to hours of testimony by multiple witnesses and experts, doesn't have the right to cry that the plaintiff didn't get "a fair verdict." Their verdict was based on facts, not feelings.

Old fart. You are clueless and clearly in need of help with reading comprehension. Please if your going to refuse to use your spell check at least use google. Hall ambulance rate increases have been in the news for the last 8-10 years. The bc council who used to have authority over rates, contested every increase proposed by hall to the extent they forced him to pay for an " independent" group to analyze his books. After determining an increase was appropriate ( to the shock of the council ), they denied him again! Some pull. That's when the kern county board of supervisors stepped in and relieved the city council of these duties and took it on themselves. My god are you on a commodore 64. This stuff is all public record. And the only money hall collects for services rendered is no different then your dr. He sends a bill, if you have ins you send them a copy, whatever the ins company doesn't pay you owe. Simple. Now some people do pay with tax payer ins but that's an entitlement issue not a hall issue. You pay less as a tax payer by having private ambulance services. If you don't need it you don't pay for it. Oh and ambulance companies write off more then 60% in bad debt. There is so much abuse of the system that even rate increases that sound high don't amount to jack. Oh and as far as filing cases again. Show me one article outside of your native Russia that states that you can refile a civil case after a jury rules on it. Just one. I'm guessing you mean file an appeal but I won't even begin to try and tell you what that means. Oh hell ill save myself another letter. You can file an appeal on a decision you feel is unjust but you won't be calling witnesses or presenting evidence. The losing party is only trying to show grounds for a new trial based on legal errors. So as it sits its done and unlikely going to be overturned. In fact ill bet the lawyers don't refile because they know they won't get paid. Wow what great guys that won't work for free and charge o
