Time is running out for those who don't qualify for Medi-Cal to sign up for another health program.
Healthy Families provides medical insurance for children in families that can't afford private health insurance, but make too much to qualify for Medi-Cal.
The organization is trying to speed up the application process because legislators are trying to cut the program by as much as 25%. That could mean future applicants will be placed on a waiting list.
"We urge every parent who does not have a child enrolled in an insurance program to call our office to see if they qualify for the Healthy Families program. We will talk to every parent we can in the next two weeks to make sure they don't end up on the Healthy Families waiting list," said Jan Hefner, the Director of Children's Health Initiative.
If you would like to see you qualify for the healthy families program you can call 1-800-391-2000.
