A maintenance worker was severely burned and shocked by a power panel at a supermarket in northwest Bakersfield this afternoon.

The emergency call initially came in as an electrical fire at WinCo Foods on Coffee Road just off of Rosedale Highway, but firefighters say there was no fire.

A worker who was working on an electrical panel caused some kind of short and received serious burns to his upper body.

The worker was taken to the hospital and the market was closed until electricity could be restored.

All electrical panels must be analyzed and properly labeled for its incident energy, what type of personal protective equipment must be worn to open the door, even what must be worn to switch a breaker on or off! Since the Internet, people are becoming aware of how dangerous this seeming safe practice is when anything goes wrong. view http://tr.youtube.com/dangerouselectricity
