Three local programs focusing on women and girls in Kern County received $20,000 in grants from the Women and Girl's Fund.
Nearly 300 donors and volunteers with the Fund joined the new grant recipients Wednesday at the Seven Oaks Country Club.
Three programs focusing on mentoring and education received the grants as part of a $33,000 endowment that works toward educating and empowering local women and girls.
"We also acknowledge women leaders in philanthropy and we recognize an adult woman and a teen girl for their efforts to give back to the community," said Mary Bynum, Chair of the Women and Girl's Fund.
Those receiving financial support include the Goal Program at Foothill High, Eyes Wide Open in Lake Isabella and Garden Pathways' Family to Family program.
Long time community supporter Stella McMurtry and East High student Nicole Mercado were also honored.
