The governor has appointed two new Kern County Superior Court judges. One is a Democrat, one is a Republican; one is a prosecutor, one is a civil attorney. They are Lorna H. Brumfield and Bryan K. Stainfield.

Governor Schwarzenegger Appoints Two to Kern County Superior Court
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the appointments of Lorna H. Brumfield and Bryan K. Stainfield to judgeships in the Kern County Superior Court.
Brumfield, 51, of Bakersfield, has served as a partner and previously an associate in the Law Offices of LeBeau-Thelen since 1998. She was an attorney for the Law Offices of Jack B. Hislop from 1990 to 1998, for Wagy, Bunker, Hislop & Lewis from 1986 to 1990 and for Bills & Price from 1983 to 1985.
Brumfield earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
She fills the vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position on January 1, 2009. Brumfield is a Democrat.
Stainfield, 48, of Tehachapi, has served as a deputy district attorney for the Kern County District Attorney's Office since 2000.
Previously, he was a deputy city attorney for the Oakland City Attorney's Office from 1997 to 2000. From 1992 to 1997, Stainfield was an associate with Larson & Burnham and, from 1990 to 1992, he was an associate with LaFollette, Johnson, DeHaas, Fesler & Ames. Prior to that, Stainfield served as a deputy district attorney for the Kern County District Attorney's Office from 1987 to 1990 and was an associate with Clifford Jenkins & Brown from 1986 to 1987.
He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego.
He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Catherine D. Purcell. Stainfield is a Republican.
The compensation for each position is $178,789.
