The 911 tape of last week's incident at Glenwood Gardens in Bakersfield has been played on national news and has created a buzz across the country. Glenwood Gardens is owned by Brookdale Senior Living, based in Tennessee. It is the nation's largest owner and operator of senior living communities, with more than 645 facilities.

And, the 911 tape has created concern with many, that what happened here could happen at all of the other facilities.

It's now the call heard across the country. It was placed from Glenwood Gardens last Tuesday. A nurse calls in to report 87-year-old Lorraine Bayless, who does not have a DNR, is barely breathing on the ground. Despite the 911 operator's pleas, the nurse refuses to perform CPR saying it's against company policy.

The tape has been played on NBC Nightly News. And, it was a hot topic Monday morning on The Today Show. Medical contributor Dr. Roshini Raj, commented on Glenwood Garden's policy.

"There was a policy in place here. I personally don't agree with those types of policies," said Dr. Raj.

National news satellite trucks have been covering the story from outside the independent living facility, and people seeing it have been firing back online. Glenwood Gardens' parent company, Brookdale Senior Living, has a Facebook page that is filled with comments. One calls it a "death facility." Another says, "If you fall over, they are not going to do CPR." And, some claim their comments were deleted.

On Yelp, there are similar sentiments. People from all over the country, again and again, are giving Bakersfield's Glenwood Gardens a one-star rating. One person commented, they wished they could rate lower. Another commented on Yelp saying, "It's where Heaven is just a phone call away." It seems to be the start of a public relations nightmare, as former prosecutor and legal commentator, Star Jones put it on "Today," that possibly might not have been avoided.

"But, the problem then becomes are we looking at a legal responsibility versus a social responsibility? And, the doctor rightly suggests that she might have lost her job, but think about the P.R. nightmare of this woman losing her job for trying to help an elderly woman and prevent her from dying," said Jones.

We tried repeatedly Monday to get in touch with Brookdale Senior Living to comment. They did not return our phone calls or e-mails. However, a company spokesperson, Matt Fontana talked to CNN.

When asked why, since the building where the incident took place is an independent living facility, would there be a nurse there if the staff is prohibited from performing medical care? Fontana wrote, "(Colleen) was hired to be the resident services director and that is the capacity in which she was serving. Glenwood Gardens is an independent living facility which, by law, is not licensed to provide medical care to any of its residents."

getalife, what do you mean "it seems like I'm single for a reason?" I'm actually married, thank you. You said that "we all need to stop judging other people" but didnt you just do that to me? Maybe you should stop being such a nasty hypocrite and take some of your own advice. People are entitled to their opinions and it seems like your the one who can't handle it because you are beyond worked up about this. Might I suggest some deep breathing and meditation to lower your blood pressure. I'm assuming its pretty high right now.

well if the nurse was just "DOING HER JOB" then i really think she should be looking at different employment to get into...say grave digger. I could give a "rats behind" that the family was fine with the so called nurses decision to let the 87 year old woman lay on the ground and gasp for breath while arguing with the 911 operator.

Satc3456 I got a life., Unlike you. seems like your single for a reason. You know nothing about this woman. You just want to go with the flow of knocking people. That nurse did what she was suppose to do when she got hired on with that company. I helped build that center back in 2000. So you know nothing! go off on what you hear! seems thats what you do in your life. The family has no issue with the care their family members received, Why should YOU? Who are you to this family? Shut your mouth and mind your own business instead of getting into everyone else's just to hide your darkness doings in your life. people need to mind their own problems if the family doesn't have any problems with what was done. That Nurse did her job. Shes not a Doctor. with all the law suit (happy) people going around she was protecting herself from the law. had it not been for the laws she probably would ve acted as she was trained.

getalife: Maybe you do not know how it works! When a person takes a CPR class and is certified they are required to help any person in need! Now with this women also being a nurse, maybe not much of one but listed as a nurse she is knows this better than anyone! Second any time a 911 operator ask you to do CPR all other policies are over ruled and you are not held liable! This women is a piece of crap and that's all there is to it! Anyone with a family member in this death should be moving them out as soon as possible if not sooner!

getalife, you really need to calm down and shut your mouth. People are upset because the "nurse" refused to even pass the phone to a visitor and have them do CPR. She refused to even attempt to look for someone. When it comes down to it, your a cold heartless witch if you aren't going to do everything in your power to save someone elses life. But, she has to live with what she did for the rest of her life.

I believe the nurse did the right thing. She followed her company policy. I'm sure that medical issues are written in the contract. Now that this has gone national, you all run with what you HEAR instead of investigating it yourself(shallow people)You judge others when you should keep your mouth closed and judge yourselves for your doings throughout life. Now all of a sudden since this story is all over the news the police are going to start a investigation, after stating they were not. The woman's family stated they were happy with the care their family member has received. You people thrive on gossip and negative things. You dont know if the woman was ready to leave this terrible world and being with her maker (much Happier). Leave people alone. except people die everyday. should we look into a death of my friend who asked for help getting off drugs and was denied that help? he's dead, whats that going to help him now. its in the past leave it their. its not going to change anything except locking someone else up in our prisons for WHAT? You people are not PERFECT! Lets sue and get rich!! Selfishness does not pay off. Karma does come around sooner or later. Be slow to speak because it could be you next people are talking about. Lets be positive and not fall for all this negativity that the news is full of. for you people that believe everything you hear. NURSE, You get a kudos from me, You responded to your company policy and did the right thing calling for medical attention. My sympathies goes out to the family who lost their loved one. but know this, she in a better place and alot happier. Don't allow these shallow people to bring you down. We should look into their past. (It probably wouldn't be good). Thank You Lord, for the life you gave her to live. My we be happy and rejoice for her Graduation from life on earth as we know it. Now we wait for our turn. where will you go?...AMEN...

wow, what a gutless person that woman is, cant call her a nurse, that would be an insult to all the good nurses around the country, hopefully she will get so depressed that she will eat a bullet, but won't happen she is too much of a coward to kill herself, bet her family is beaming with proud,LOL, but kudos to that 911 operator

i am at loss for words....this is the most despicable case i have ever heard. God help that so called nurse who declined to help...i hope all families are taking into consideration what has happened there and remove their loved ones! And that nurse should have her license taken away, I hope she chokes on that paycheck she gets each week.
