BAKERSFIELD, CA - If you had to fill up your gas tank recently, you've probably noticed the price at the pump is on the rise.

Gasoline now costs an average of $3.85 for regular unleaded here in Bakersfield, 11 cents more per gallon than we were paying this time last year. Premium grade now tops four dollars per gallon. Analysts say there are several reasons behind the sharp increases, including the rising price of crude oil and maintenance work at California refineries.

But there are some encouraging signs if you're hoping for prices to go back down. The state's gasoline supplies are 13 percent higher than they were at this time last year.

Right about the time gas prices started rising I read an article in the paper about a big judgment against one of the big oil companies. My theory is that gas prices go up when big judgments come down so that we, the gas consumers, finance the payment of the judgments. I also think the big oil companies have each other's backs on this so that whoever has the judgment against them, all the other companies will raise prices so that when their turn comes, they are covered.

Very odd how gas prices were going down and the news stated they will keep going down until King Obama open his big mouth and stated something about gas prices and he was going to reduce the prices a few weeks ago, now look at what happened! Thanks a lot for opening your big mouth Obama!
