A fundraiser is planned for Saturday to raise money for a Bakersfield Police officer, shot earlier this year.

The Northwest Bakersfield Baseball League will sell chocolate-covered bananas, in support of Officer Dennis Eddy.

Eddy, a father of two and year veteran officer, was shot during a confrontation with a gang member in February.

As a result of the gunshot, doctors had to amputate part of his leg.

If you would like to donate, the fundraiser goes from 9 a.m. Saturday until 2 p.m at Sam Lynn Ball Park.
