Newly released state political documents show former state Senator Michael Rubio was in a business partnership with a Kern County oil executive who donated to his campaign and gave him a loan on a house near Sacramento.

The records were released Saturday by the Fair Political Practices Commission.

The commission told us last week they were investigating the home loan from San Joaquin Refining owner Majid Mojibi to see if it conforms with political law.

Rubio abruptly stepped down from office just over a week ago to take a government affairs job with Chevron. He was in the process of reforming the state's environmental protection law.

The new documents also reveal Rubio and Mojibi had a business partnership, investing and buying properties.
