well what do you know, finally a judge with he courage to do the right thing. maybe, just maybe there is still some hope for our justice system........... seems like a light sentance however, when this guy's major concern was the condition of his murder weapon/boat. but it is a lot better than probation which is which most bleeding heart judges are prone to deal out........

I couldn't care less about the priors. The petulant quim was loaded and behind the wheel, ran people over, KILLED A PERSON, and then tried to run away. 15 years to life seems too lenient. Don't feed me the "well he didn't mean to kill" retort, either; the boat ended up in the middle of somebody's picnic. People treat driving cars, boats, and motorcycles like it's not a big deal; that the physics of what they're actually doing is not impressive and awesomely frightening and that the consequences of which can be very, very real. "Keep my eyes on the road? Nope, just gotta check this text message/e-mail/facebook/twitter, and find that receipt from three weeks ago under the back seat while driving on the freeway, no big deal - my car has a 5-star safety rating!" The appeal declaration doesn't surprise me, I just hate that things like this can actually be appealed. Eat your vegetables.

Glad to see that we have atleast one Judge around here that did the right thing when it comes to a heavy sentence. Thank God there was no plea deal this time around for this piece of garbage. One correction for the article, this is not the first time in the nation where this level of sentence has been handed down for a death on water. I lost a cousin in New Hampshire on one of the lakes there and the driver of that boat will not be eligible for parole for many years. Some of the New England states do not tolerate boating related injuries/deaths.

This loser has a long history of making bad decisions. I think rotting in jail is a good place for him. Now if we can just hand down a sentence for the drunkard who killed the motorcyclist and "went home to get his shoes" we will be headed in a good direction.

The above article say Ennis was charged with 2nd degree murder back in 2009, but it was dismissed. The truth is he was allowed to plead to ADW with serious injury and was sentenced to 2 years in prison. Guess the reporter didn't know the entire story.

Justin Annis’ story had me going for the first half of this article. I felt sorry for the dude til the article said he had priors and he felt no remorse. But no worry, Mr Annis. You won’t need a boat where you are going. In prison the water sports played there are GOLDEN SHOWERS. You don’t need a boat for that. And when you go back to your “room” you can schedule cuddly-wuddly time with the fellows.
