A domestic dispute turned into a standoff in an east Bakersfield neighborhood. Sheriff's deputies were called to a home in the 12 hundred block of Water Street just after 7:00 Monday night.

When deputies arrived, they found 50-year-old Floyd Harris shot in the leg. He told them he was shot by someone else, but investigators say they later found out he shot himself after an argument with his girlfriend whom he struck with a belt several times.

Deputies say two men inside the home with them refused to come out so a standoff ensued. After about an hour, they came out and were detained.

Investigators say those men were trying to cover up evidence.
