Dogs take bite out of big cell phone business in prison

Cell phones are big business inside Kern Valley State Prison. Prisoners smuggle them in and use the technology to conduct drug deals, even call for murders beyond the prison walls. Confiscating cell phones is the responsibility of the prison's K9 unit.

Throw up a cyber wall around the prison. If the phones won't work, there's no market for them. Land lines will keep the prison running, the cyber wall will render cell phones useless.

Sorry CNDNailTech, But this is not a good use of tax dollars. Murph has it right. How do you think all those cell phones get in there in the first place? I seriously doubt they are all being "keestered" and brought in on visitor's day! Unfortunately, the few bad COs that participate in this type of activity give all of the other's a bad name. Maybe be they should scan or search the COs for contraban but their Union won't allow it. I am not dissing COs but let's face it, there are bad apples in every barrel and the CO barrel is no exception.

Sure the guards sell the phones to the inmates, the guards use the dogs to find the cell phone which they sold to the inmates, the guards resell the phones to the inmates, sounds like the guards got it going on, it's their new retirement program!
