It looks like there may not be a special election to replace former City Councilman Rudy Salas. City officials say a technical error has invalidated hundreds of signatures that were turned in, in efforts to hold a special election in Ward One.

Petition organizers collected the 1,220 signatures needed, however, the city says more than 11 hundred of them were invalid because someone other than the signers completed the residence information. That means it will be up to the City Council to do one of three things. They must decide whether to go forward with a special election in June, appoint an interim member until the election, or leave the position open until the election.

A special election is expected to cost the city about 100 thousand dollars.

But then again he also knew the laws on getting those signatures and broke those laws on how he did it! Sure he sounds like a regular offical but hey why have another one of the same!

Since the City Officials are concerned about the money and have the ability to appoint someone, why don't they just appoint Marvin Dean? He is the one who put forth the effort to get the signatures. His Ward obviously likes him.
