So far, no arrests after a California Highway Patrol officer is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her bedroom. Sheriff's investigators say early Friday morning, the victim had been stopped by a deputy while driving in the area of Merle Haggard Drive and Highway 99. She was suspected of driving under the influence. The deputy requested the CHP respond to conduct their DUI investigation. Later that morning, two CHP officers arrived. The deputy who made the initial stop had left the scene.
The victim had told detectives Sunday the CHP officers agreed to follow her to her residence instead of arresting her for driving under the influence. After the CHP officers arrived, one of the officers allegedly sexually assaulted the woman in her bedroom.
The Highway Patrol has been notified of the investigation and is cooperating with deputies. The 2 CHP officers who responded to the scene of the DUI investigation have been identified. However their names are being withheld pending further investigation.
