A big honor for students and faculty at Cesar Chavez High School in Delano.

It has a reputation for being among the best in the state. But, this year it's among the best in the country, earning recognition as a National Distinguished School.

Students play hard and work hard in the classroom, and it pays off. In spring 2011, the school was named a California Distinguished School.

This year that recognition went national, with CCHS named a National Distinguished School by the National Title 1 Association for its efforts in closing the achievement gap between student groups.

Only two schools from each state are selected each year as National Distinguished Schools.

Cesar Chavez High School will be a presenter at the 2013 National Title 1 Association conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

It will also be recognized during a parade at the Opryland Hotel.
