Deputies taped off Panama Road, east of Weedpatch Highway around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night after finding Jose Antonio Alvarado, 53, lying in the street.
They say he was shot in the head, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness said Alvarado was driving south on Weedpatch Hwy. when he passed he passed a slower vehicle. That other vehicle then tailgated him and flashed its highbeams.
Alvarado thought he lost the vehicle in a neighborhood, and headed to a realtive's house on Panama.
However, the suspect vehicle pulled up behind him and deputies say the person inside confronted Alvarado. That's when Alvarado was shot.
The man in the suspect vehicle has not been arrested.
