If you plan to party this weekend for St. Patrick's Day, there will be extra officers on patrol looking for drunk and unlicensed drivers. During this holiday, Police, Sheriff, and CHP throughout Kern County will be on high alert, cracking down on drunk drivers as part of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" public safety campaign.

The DUI task force is urging drivers to plan a safe ride home and never get behind the wheel under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Officials say a DUI can cost a person as much as 13 thousand dollars.

If you dr999 ,have never lost someone to a drunk driver and the system lets the offender off with a slap on the hand then put a sock in it, If the law really wanted to they could ack like they care and do crackdowns more than holidays only. I have lost someone so if i want to voice my opinion i will.if u dont like it dont read it,i didnt point fingers at you in my post so dont need your opinion.

bones, before you say the law needs to pull "there" (their) heads out of each others asses, you should know what you are talking about before showing what an idiot you are. The article doesn't say it's a check point on St. Patricks Day, it's extra officers patrolling looking specifically for impaired drivers. "There" you have it.

If they would only do check points more than just a holiday there would be alot less drivers on the road. I guess as stupid as its being run they think thats the only time people drink and drive. The law needs to pull there heads out of each others asses and look around every night of the week, you think all the eating establishments are only serving food, they just need one here and one there to look good for the media and themselves will look like good caring people that there not.

oldfart, as usual, you are wrong, (or getting more senile). The law you are thinking about DOES NOT apply only to illegal aliens. And it DOES NOT apply to anyone arrested for DUI.

And a unlicensed illegal "undocumented" drunk gets a free phone call to find a license driver to come and pick him and the car up and that's the end of it!Thanks to Jerry Brown great laws on illegals in this state!
