A Kern County firefighter, who is accused of drunken driving in an accident that killed a Bakersfield mother and injured her 15-year-old daughther, was driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.13, according to a police report filed in the case.

The report also indicates Engineer Mitchell Green, 30, was traveling at 70 mph when he allegedly ran a red light and crashed into a car, killing Michelle Maxwell, 41, and injuring her daughter, 15-year-old Michaela Maxwell. The mom was teaching her daughter to drive at the time of the crash.

The crash happened February 2, just before 8 p.m. at Panama Lane and Ashe Road. Power went out in the area because Green's pickup truck bounced off the car and severed a power pole, police said.

Green is due in court Thursday afternoon to be formally charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence.
