Kern County Supervisor Jon McQuiston has annouced he's running for State Assembly in the 32nd District.

McQuiston is a Republican and his only opponent so far is Bakersfield City Councilmember Rudy Salas, a Democrat.  There still could be more contenders, the deadline to file is more than a month away.

Based on the 2010 census, the state's assembly districts have changed.  The new 32nd District includes parts of Bakersfield, Arvin, and Lamont but winds up north to include Shafter, Delano, Hanford, and Lemoore.
