The community is continuing to come together in support of the fire victims and firefighters on the front line.

Last night, WalMart donated food, water and toiletries to the Red Cross distribution site.

The supplies will be given to families displaced by the fire and crews battling the flames.

"I would just say that, as a community, if we all work together every little bit helps," said WalMart manager Mike McWilliams. "If you take the number of businesses in Bakersfield, and if they all just give a little bit, then it can make a very large impact for this group of people."

McWilliams hopes others will follow suit and support the Red Cross and Kern County families in need.

The Red Cross depends on the generous support of people in our community to be ready to respond to fires like this.

If you'd like to make a tax-deductible donation you can visit the local Red Cross website at www.kernredcross.org

You can also call 661-324-6427 during normal business hours.
