On Wednesday morning, 17 News teamed up with the Alzheimer's Disease Association of Kern County for a cinnamon roll fundraiser, and it was a huge success!
The folks from Hodel's baked, frosted and packaged about 12,000 cinnamon rolls for the "Pennies for Your Thoughts" fundraiser. That's over 1,500 pans!
Cars lined up around the block at 22nd and M Streets in downtown Bakersfield, as drivers waited to start their Wednesday with a warm and gooey roll.
The 8-packs sold like hotcakes. Billy McTaggart picked up ten packs for family and friends.
"I had such a busy holiday season that I didn't get to do any baking," she said. "So, I am going to take them to my neighbors and teachers and administrators who take care of my wonderful children."
The fundraiser went so well the cinnamon rolls sold out an hour early, at 9 a.m.
In all, more than $15,000 was raised.
