Some employees showed up to locked doors at a Liberty Construction call center in Bakersfield on Monday.

The Contractors State License Board has been investigating the company for 18 months.

Three of its contractors were arrested in Los Angeles on Friday on suspicion of selling remodeling work that was not done.

A few employees came to the Liberty Construction office on Stine Road. Some of them told 17 News, a supervisor called early Monday morning and told them not to come in until Wednesday.

An employee says about 16 workers worked at the call center as telemarketers, setting up remodeling jobs in southern California.

"I have no clue. I mean they didn't say anything about not coming to work on Monday, everything seemed fine on Saturday," said Nancy Chung, a telemarketer.

Liberty Construction's license is listed as 'active' according to the Contractors State License Board.

Violations on its license include: willful or fraudulent act, misrepresentation, false advertisement and employed non-registered salesperson.

17 News reached out to Liberty Construction, but our calls were not returned.

The company is still under investigation.
