BAKERSFIELD, CA - CSUB plans to honor two legends of Bakersfield country music.
According to The Bakersfield Californian, the university is set to bestow an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts on Merle Haggard, the first such degree awarded.
They also plan to give Buck Owens a posthumous Presidential Medal of Honor from CSUB president Horace Mitchell, the highest posthumous award that can be given by the CSU system.
Both awards will be presented at the graduation ceremony of the School of Arts and Humanities on June 14.
