A nurse refusing to give CPR to a patient is like a police officer refusing to stop a criminal in the act!....it just does not seem right!

Before grabbing your pitchforks you might want to actually look at the research. CPR in the elderly is incompatible with a peaceful death (which is what would have happened regardless in this situation). Successful resuscitation at that age occurs less than .1%. What does occur is that your loved one spends their last moments in horrific pain with broken ribs. Ribs often break into the lungs so if they do survive they spend months on a ventilator. What ever happened to quality of life? When did we decide that life should be prolonged at all cost? I find the nurse's actions much more compassionate than if she had pounded on the woman's chest. Sit with someone and give them comfort as they go. Especially at that age.

A trained nurse that refuse to do CPR on any person in need should have charges filed against her! Knowing if it would do any good or not on and older patient one would not know unless they dried!

What if they would live more years if they get CPR. I would give CPR no matter what. Not for me to judge if they should die without help to maybe live more years

I wonder if "nurse" Colleen would have provided assistance if her "supervisor" or a member of corporate were visiting.....hmmm. BTW... this facility is owned by Brookdale Senior Living (NYSE: BKD).investors check your portfolio and drop them a note...... As a tired (not retired) police officer I have done CPR on many older patients, would you rather have a chance to say good bye to your parent in the hospital or the morgue...... Luke 6:31
