Organizers of the Bakersfield Business Conference announced today that the October 9, 2010 Conference will return to the California State University, Bakersfield campus.  Organizer George F. Martin said “Over the last few months, we have received numerous requests to move the 25th Anniversary Conference to Cal State University, Bakersfield, which was the Conference site for more than a decade. In fact, the input in favor of a return to the campus from our past attendees was almost universal. So we will once again be building our patriotic tent city on the soccer fields of CSUB!”

The “conference city” will feature a large main tent that will seat in excess of 8000 attendees with assigned table and chairs. Several other venues for the day will operate similarly including a business tent, celebrity tent, how-to tent, meet-the-lenders tent, exhibition tent, stars and stripes arcade, and bookstore, ice cream pavilion, farmer's market, sports sent, beer garden, quiet area, medical center, refreshment centers, outdoor theater, CSUB tent, press tent. Several other vendors will also allow for learning, networking, and just having a great time all day and into the night.

Conference organizers also announced that three additional speakers and an entertainment group will join the October 9, 2010 event speaker lineup. The newly announced speakers are Tobin Smith, Gerri Willis, and Rita Moreno. The entertainment group is the musical satire team, The Capitol Steps. Over forty speakers will appear at next year’s Conference in a format that will allow Conference attendees to choose between some of the best platform speakers in America based on the attendee’s interests and preferences.

Conference communications director Brandon Martin said, “While we initially had planned to feature 24 speakers – an ambitiously large number for any single day event – the event will now feature over 40 speakers. The patriotic tent city location at CSUB allows us to offer multiple venues with multiple perspectives and educational opportunities and still focus on making the event a fun and memorable experience for all.”

Conference organizers have previously announced that the 2010 speaker lineup will include 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, Vice President Dick Cheney, former Second Lady Lynne Cheney, former Mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, former First Lady Laura Bush, academy-award-winning actress Goldie Hawn, Olympian and theater star Cathy Rigby, award-winning journalist Eleanor Clift, Democratic strategist Bob Beckel, Republican strategist, Karl Rove, master negotiator Herb Cohen, entrepreneur Wally Amos, grammy-award-winning musician Ronnie Milsap, actor Tony Plana, actress Jane Seymour, conservative commentator Cal Thomas, liberal commentator Donna Brazile, educator Joe Clark, and impressionist Rich Little. Conference organizers will continue to announce the names of speakers confirmed to address the 2010 Conference in weeks to come.

Conference organizer George F. Martin explains this week’s selection of Tobin Smith, Gerri Willis, Rita Moreno, and the Capitol Steps:  "When it comes to business, investments, and personal finance Tobin Smith and Gerri Willis are two of the best communicators around. When Tobin Smith talks, investors listen. His weekly e-newsletter goes out to over 250,000 investors and viewers of Fox News Channel’s Bulls and Bears program enjoy his insight into the markets. His analysis often considers aspects of personality and behavioral psychology that other trend-spotters miss. Gerri Willis is an anchor for CNN who has made her career as a business journalist based on her ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terms. Both her show, “Your Bottom Line” and her column “5 tips” have taught countless people about saving strategies, debt management, and other key personal finance skills crucial for weathering and succeeding in a difficult economic environment.

“Rita Moreno has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. She’s performed in some of the most memorable films in modern American cinema and is a master of the art of bringing theatrical skill to both television and the big screen. In 2010, we will be featuring a tent venue with legends of film, television, and theater. Rita Moreno is perfect for that venue as her performances are so often groundbreaking and relevant to the history of popular culture.

“The Capitol Steps are a Conference favorite. They’ll return to add their special brand of political satire, jovial irreverence, and musical fun to the Conference stage again in 2010. There will be a lot of serious insight into our Country’s political climate at the Conference, but Conference attendees will also have plenty of opportunity to laugh and put political problems in their proper perspective. There’s a good chance that the Capitol Steps will steal the show in 2010.”
