We put out the call, and as always you answered. There was an impressive turnout Wednesday for our annual Summer Hunger Buster food drive for the Golden Empire Gleaners.
Hundreds of people stopped by our studios to donate.
At last check, you donated upwards of 75 hundred dollars in cash and four tons of food. That food will go to low-income families in need, particularly those with children who will be out of school this summer, and not receiving subsidized meals from their respective school districts.
"It's crucial. As the economy continues what it's doing, our clientele is not lessening. We're feeding some 18-thousand people per month, so this food will come and go rather quickly," said Pam Fiorini, Executive Director for the Golden Empire Gleaners.
