A big rig driver is fortunate to be alive after police say he fell asleep and crashed into a shopping center parking lot around 2:00 a.m. Friday morning.

Officers say the driver was headed west on Highway 58 where it ends at Real Road but they say he fell asleep and kept going into the parking lot ahead.

The driver managed to get out before the big rig caught fire.

Fortunately, no businesses were destroyed.

Police say there was nothing in the trailer at the time.

Hey jodeno let's see how many people do you know that can hold down a full time job as the manager and head mechanic of a trucking company and then in his spare time be a boy scout leader, mechanic for family and friends at no charge, handy man for family and friends at no charge and a darn good one at that there is no job he can not do, it seems he was born with the know how to fix anything, now just how many people do you know that can do this? Even now with his health he does more than most with the pain and all.

There you go again jodeno not knowing what your talking about,I did have a steady management career for over 30 years along with doing everything else when I had spare time, not like some people that worked 40 hours a week and set at home rest of the time, by the way there are not to many people now days that are drawing max Soc Sec and own their home with money in bank! And by the way I got many years to give you a bad time!

Neither of you knows what I do or how I live my life, so take your own advice and know who you're talking about before you say anything. You're just a couple of bitter old geezers who have nothing better to do than act like know-it-alls over the internet. Is this what you have to show for your life? Wow, you guys are so successful! Your families must be so proud! Oh and if murph was such a good worker, why then didn't he have a steady career? Seems to me he spent his life working several "odd jobs." Why couldn't you hold on to 1 job murph? What's wrong with you? What do you do now, collect disability? Go crawl into a grave, nobody would miss you. You've probably got one foot there anyways, do us all a favor and lay the rest of your fat ass down.

Ruffy yes as per DOT companies are required to randam test a percentage of employees every month, just some companies have a little trick for some of their pet drivers which they know will not pass, they slip in another employee in their slot, I was the shop manager and didn't drive for the company but they knew I would pass, my name and two of my mechanics kept coming up every month until I filed with the local DOT officer which just happen to be a good friend of mind, I agreed everyone should be tested not just the ones that could pass! Not saying this guy was on drugs just some drivers refuse to follow the rules and some people are not cut out to be truck drivers!
