Bakersfield's Joey Porter arrested on felony count

Bakersfield's Joey Porter, a former member of the NFL, is in custody at the downtown jail.

Bakersfield Police tell 17 News Porter was arrested during a routine traffic stop just before ten Friday night on the 9600 block of Etchart Road.

Police say Clark County, Nevada, issued a warrant for Porter's arrest.

They say he was arrested on a felony count for writing a check with insufficient funds.

This isn't Porter's first run-in with the law. In 2010, he was arrested for DUI, but that case was dismissed because of a lack of evidence.

Porter played football at Foothill High and retired from the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played for the first eight years of his career before stops in Miami and Arizona.

He's also known for his charity work around Bakersfield, including running a football camp for local youth.

Welcome to the real world DeekThePiper. we all pay taxes as well as having money pulled from our hard earned paychecks for lazy people. if you don't like it, you can always leave the country. since it's no our native land anyway. Joey Porter is a duche bag. i know from personal experiance. but thats my personal opinion. what he does with his money play no role in my life and it shouldn't in yours. maybe you should spend more time with your kids so they don't grow up to be duche bags like porter.

I see on various websites that Joey was indeed released from the Grey Bar Hotel today after repaying the $70,000 that he tried to rip off from the Hard Rock Hotel/Casino back in June. I wonder how long it will be before his next arrest?

Joey porter just needs to go away. Take what little money you have left and leave Bakersfield. I cannot believe this guy had a bad check with the money he had. Should just leave this idiot in jail in another state and stop publishing anything about this butt head. Sure glad i pulled our kids out of heritage when he and his wife put there kids there. His kids where brats and i see where that comes from.

DeekthePiper, it sounds to me like you have a lot of jealous issues when it comes to people with money. I am just a normal middle class person that pays my taxes too and for someone quoting the bible you shouldn't be slander him or throwing stones because that's not very Godly.

And yeah, I don’t have a 2-million dollar mausoleum to put up for collateral! My kids do not listen me. They don’t understand semantics. They choose their role models, athletic or otherwise. And they believe everything they see on television. I’m just an American bloke paying his way and also for someone else. I have no tax loop holes to fall back on. Yeah again, I’m one of the 53% of taxpayers who pays taxes.

Joey is out of jail. He paid about 78K he wrote to a casino. To all you who put your foot in your mouth, could you come up with 78K overnight?? You guys need to search your souls and find a little love for mankind. Envy and jealousy is not becoming.
