Bakersfield woman killed in crash on Panama Road

A head-on crash in south Bakersfield claimed the life of a Bakersfield woman.

Rosa Maria Ozuna, 49, was hit by a semi truck on Panama Road near Cottonwood Road Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver of the semi truck, identified as Juan Badillo, 22, of Shafter, slammed on his brakes and lost control, officers said. He veered Into oncoming traffic and struck Ozuna's SUV, the CHP reported.

Two passengers in the SUV, Diana Rojas, 21, and Irene Jimenez, 4, both of Utah, suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the semi was not hurt.
