Her story is truly remarkable.

More than a decade ago, Nannette Gonzalez left Bakersfield for Bucharest, Romania. Her plan was to hold orphaned and abandoned babies for two weeks.
But, she says she's come to find her place in this world.

"I went with blind faith. I didn't know what I was getting into, but I have never regretted it." said Gonzalez.

Fifteen years ago she found her calling to help abandoned and forgotten children.

"I had never seen a love deprivation like I saw in Romania, where the kids were fighting who could kiss me or hold my hand, it was like I was their mom." said Gonzalez.

17's Robin Mangarin first introduced you to Gonzalez in 2003.

Gonzalez had been working with Rock Ministries' "Romania Outreach to Christ's Kids, an orphanage that not only fosters children, but also teaches them how to be kids again.

ROCK staff plan to build a new facility in Romania, called Bedrock Falls Ranch.

The 10-acre property will include three family homes, horses, stables, soccer fields and fruit orchards.

"Next summer we are finally start the project, that's why we are having this fundraiser to raise funds." she said, adding "Bakersfield has been so supportive of ROCK ministries, that's what I want to have it here in my hometown."

A city that never gave up on one woman's dream to make a difference halfway around the world.

Nanette says she will be in Bakersfield in the next six onths raising money for the new facility she hopes to raise $1 million.
