A man was wounded early Tuesday afternoon in a drive-by shooting at the funeral of one of the men killed in a quadruple fatal accident April 26.
One man leaving the service received injuries described by Delano Police as ‘moderate,’ but not life-threatening.
Numerous shots were fired at two cars leaving the funeral, according to Delano Police Sgt. Donald Flores. Only one man was hit. He was taken to Kern Medical Center, Flores said.
There were no immediate arrests.
It wasn’t immediately known if the man who was shot was the intended victim, or if the shooting was gang related.
It happened just outside the North Kern Cemetery in Delano at about 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Services had ended in the last funeral for the four men killed April 26 when the car in which they were riding careened off Garzoli Avenue, just north of Elmo Highway, outside McFarland. The car rolled over and struck a concrete pipe.
The Highway Patrol said the driver of the car, Aurelio Vasquez, 25, was drunk at the time of the accident, but he has not yet been charged.
Channel 17 has one crew in Delano and one in McFarland and will have full coverage, including a live report, tonight on 17News@5 and 6.
