An off-duty Bakersfield Police officer was arrested early Tuesday following a crash near Seven Oaks.

The BPD reports Officer Thomas Villasenor was arrested shortly after midnight after he struck vehicle driven by Dawn Ratliff near the intersection of Ming Avenue and Old River Road

Ratliff ''had a complaint of pain in the neck and back area and was taken by ambulance to an area hospital," said Lt. Mitch Willoughby.

BPD officers said they determined Villasenor showed symptoms of alcohol intoxication.

He was booked on DUI charges and has been placed on administrative leave from the department pending an investigation. Villasenor has been on the force for a little more than a year, Lt. Willoughby said.
