Kern County Sheriff's Deputies took an attempted murder suspect into custody at an apartment where he had been holed up near South High School around 6:00 a.m. Friday morning.

It started around 4:30 a.m. Friday when Bakersfield Police Officers started chasing Frankie Reyes, 25, in a car on Highway 99.

Deputies say Reyes ditched his car near South High and ran to a relative's apartment on Planz Drive.  Reyes then surrendered just as the SWAT team arrived.

Reyes was wanted in the shooting of another man close to two weeks ago on Covey Street in Oildale.  That other man is still at KMC.

Deputies say Reyes will be booked on attempted murder and felony evading charges.

He won't get off unless he's related to Youngblood.
