Arvin man dies in crash east of Bakersfield

The coroner's office has identified the Arvin man killed in a traffic collision east of Bakersfield.  The Highway Patrol says 19-year-old Jose Hernandez Junior was in a Honda Civic that collided head-on with a Toyota mini-van on Bear Mountain Boulevard.  

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.  The passenger in the Civic, 18-year-old Cecilia Rivas of Arvin was taken to Kern Medical Center where she's listed in fair condition. 

The driver of the mini-van 32-year-old Judith Vasquez of Bakersfield was taken to Kern Medical Center with major injuries.  The Highway Patrol says the three people involved in the collision were wearing seat belts.
