Are Prop 30 taxes really helping schools?

This fall, California voters said 'Yes' to Proposition 30, raising taxes to fund education. The proposal promised to give money to schools but is that where the money is actually going?

the simple answer as to why they bus kids from one area to another is to racially balance the schools because the neighborhoods are not racially balanced enough to satisfy integration laws passed years ago. As for the money anyone dumb enough to believe the state will send all the money to schools and not find a way to funnel it somewhere else is probably dumb enough to have voted for prop 30

Most of the kids in the southwest that live less than one mile have to walk! I would like to know why do they bus kids from the eastside to the westside high schools when they have two new high schools on the eastside that are only half full?

This story doesn't sound like the schools are receiving more funds, only that funds are not being taken away to fund other programs. "As of January 22nd, the Department of Finance said the state collected $8.4 billion in personal income tax revenues this month. That's up from $43.8 billion from January 2012". I'm no PHD in mathematics but how is 8.4 billion this year more than $43.8 billion in the same time period from last year?

Why is transportation being provided for kids who live less than one mile from the school? It seems to me they can walk or have their parents drive them to school

Sure it's helping some of the schools, the non-english speaking schools thanks to Jerry Brown!
